As part of being chosen for August’s Company Forum Blogger of the Week, myself, Emilie from Lovaine, Charlotte from Lurch Hound Loves and Nicola from Your Love Is So Wifi had the amazing opportunity of working with the Company fashion team modelling the Superdry current collection for this autumn’s Company High Street Edit. No biggie then.
I arrived mid-morning to find Emilie and Nicola already in make-up, so I got chatting with Company’s super cool stylist Laura Martin about my tom-boy themed look. It was the perfect choice as I love this look, and among the rail of chunky knits and jeans was Superdry’s Picasso crew jumper which I’d already bought with my vouchers – see my OOTD with it here. Next I got my hair done with the very sweet Jay, who had a bit of a job dealing with my tangled tresses. We started with a cool quiff and braided bun but when my shoot started the fash team decided to try me with my hair down, which is something I never do! It didn’t help with the nerves while I was doing my pretty limited range of poses for photographer Daniel Nadel… More on that in a bit!
Outfit on – a big thankyou to Laura for helping me get it right and sorting out my cuffs! – I went into make-up with the ever so pretty Sophie Higginson. I’m not a big make-up wearer and Sophie decided to keep my look natural with deft application of MAC foundation and some barely-there brown eyeshadow to help my eyes pop. I was astonished by the results, I wish I could do this everyday at home. It looked like me, but just much, much better!
I was second up to have my photos taken and despite having had a lovely chat with Daniel the photographer, once standing in the white backdrop my nerves got the better of me. I kind of froze and forgot all the things I usually do while posing for photos I take for my blog. Daniel was patiently shouting out directions but I found it hard not to worry whether he was getting the right shot. It did take quite a few shots – felt like an age! – so you can imagine how relieved I felt when the extremely lovely art director Jojo Ma told me they had a few they liked and showed me the one they would probably go with. It’s a beautiful shot, but I hardly recognised myself with my hair down.
With the weight of my photos off my shoulders, I set about taking a few behind the scenes snaps. First up a sneak peek of me being photographed tweeted by Company’s head of fashion Charlotte Pennington…
A big thank you to the amazing teams from both Company and Superdry for such a brilliant experience and I am so excited to see the results in full technicolour print this November. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the pics from the day!
