In Amongst It All

You know when you want to do everything and even doing just a little seems hard? Managing productivity against laundry and washing up and hopes, goals and dreams…[ezcol_1half]Wake up calls like a two-day migraine (yes, more water, less coffee – actually, despite appearances I only have one cup a day! – more yoga; 10 poses to beat migraines soon!) bringing into sharp relief the need to make more time for your own health in amongst it all.[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]But I want to write a novel! Don’t get me wrong I love blogging and the photography and all the wonderfully fun things that go along with it, but I’ve always wanted to write something bigger, better, more inspiring. How to find the time for that in amongst it all?[/ezcol_1half_end]

CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT

[ezcol_4fifth]Sometimes it can feel like you’re on a treadmill you can’t get off. It’s not just content is king these days, it’s that high output of quality content is king. Working round the clock to create for Instagram, Twitter and blog plus Pinning and Facebooking. It’s a lot. And it’s fun. And rewarding. And the more you put in, the more you get out. Can we afford to live offline these days? Scary question. What’s the answer?[/ezcol_4fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end][/ezcol_1fifth_end]

WHY DO WE DOCUMENT?

I suppose I should extol the virtues of creating time for life offline and look to the slow living movement. But actually I hate looking at it like online and offline. It’s all life and work. It’s more about giving as much attention to all parts if your life as you did before. Make time to exercise, breathe, read books, draw, doodle, cook and bake. As a blogger you just need remember not all of it needs to be documented, all of the time. Although my feeling is that our need to goes deeper than most give credit for. The existential need to record our existence for the day we won’t be here. Will our online lives provide fodder, insight, lessons to learn and reassurance for the masses of the future?

In our own selfies-on-steroids way we are each trying to leave a legacy of some sort?

BUT STILL, SOME GOOD APPS…

But just don’t forget the bigger projects. The novels, the music, the films. App-centric as ever, I’ve found a brilliant one for anyone serious about book-writing (serious, as in, you actually have to fork out £15 for this one!) but it’s a great way to create a draft, add in notes about characters, scenes etc. And I’ve also just discovered fun new photo app Swing By Polaroid which I’ve been whiling away my Sunday morning with, go take a pic! Everything in moderation. 😉
