In tumultuous times, and it seems everything is crazy off kilter right now, gotta keep grounded, level headed and well-oiled with a little bit of green and self-care…
I’ve been gardening a lot, ever since Brexit actually and boy, does it help. Part of the garden overhaul has been getting in some lovely pots too and planting them up. I checked out the COS x Hay (Danish minimal homeware designer) and fell in love with, well, everything. But came away with a gorgeous set of pots in grey and black – that’s what’s holding one of my new eucalyptuses and if you scroll down you will see it in its full glory!
And staying grounded means being able to flip off your shoes anytime and just stand in the grass – love Xochi Balfour aka The Naturalista’s take on this and all the the more spiritual self-care tips at the back of her debut book. So all the more reason for a fresh pair of sliders, and furry fluff for maximal cuteness, these part of the many, many excellent if ‘paying “homage” quite fiercely’ at Zara right now.
And also part of my indoor plant collection is this gorgeous new airplant from the growing-from-strength-to-strength Geo-Fleur and Sophie’s completely unique and completely brilliant monthly #plantpostclub. Get involved.
No summer is worth contemplating without a favourite basket bag to hand – see my shopping edit here – and this is my most recent fave; by Brighton’s Workshop Living, where they’ve now re-stocked in other colours. Go, run, only £24 and always selling out thanks to a certain blonde, leggy UK fashion blogger.
Much to share on the beauty front, mainly in the shape of oils. I rediscovered Liz Earle at their press day last week and am quite taken with their new dry oil body spray, out soon. My skin is quite dry so sucks up this kind of thing and works fine for me just before getting dressed in the morning in the way a regular oil wouldn’t.
Beatitude is a new free-from-parabens brand I’m trying out. Softly fragranced with rose, the award-winning facial oil is perfect for applying just before bed and like all rosehip oils really gives a radiant glow! The body oil is for deliciously indulgent Friday night bath sessions and looks gorgeous on the shelf.
The Body Deli is a regular at A Beautiful World and this is a little sample Tahitian vanilla body wash which has the most gorgeous ingredients; coconut, kale, avocado oil, jojoba oil and maca roots. Perfect size for taking away on trips, this will be going in my festival weekend washbag at the end of the month.
And last, but not least, for eyebrow groomers, and I’m getting more and more into this (I use an eyebrow mousse to give mine a little extra definition) Browcote is an excellent little waterproof sealer for keeping every hair exactly in place for ages, good for parties and festivals!
I can’t live without my iWalk battery chargers; I currently have two on the go that I keep fully charged at my laptop so I can always grab one when I’m heading out. They’re neat enough so that you can still use your phone while it’s plugged in. Only thing, be careful not to snap it off while plugged in; very easy to do and very tempting for curious little fingers too!
I’ve also given up on decorative phone cases and gone for something super protective. The Gear 4 Black is really nice to handle as well as looks good, and you can get different colours.
The Bloomingville cup (now on sale!) is my new daily fave, and from recently launched Trouva, a collective of fantastic boutiques across the country and and one step up from feet in the grass, I’m getting back into jogging and have a brilliantly stretchy seamless new pair of leggings from Ilu Fitwear with which to do it.
