OOTD – Black & Blue Hues

UK fashion blog - Wallis jeans

As the summer colours soften and we’re drawn to the transitional hues of autumn, I always find myself calling on the back-to-school colours of black, blue and brown…

Wallis kindly sent me a pair of dark blue denim jeggings to style up and I immediately pulled out two of my best-trusted peices – my Hudson Enke ankle boots and French Connection waterfall blazer – and knitted together this comfortable look. This ensemble feels feels like a welcome gang of old friends. The soft blue knit is another bought with my Superdry vouchers and for a touch of mad colour I added my beautiful handmade clutch by Leotie Lovely (see the story behind it from designer Holly Rose here).

The jeggings only go down to a size 8, so they are not super tight on me, which actually makes a nice change. They are well enough cut that they still have a nice line to them and I like the looser look and feel and the way that makes for a chunkier, cool cuff turn-up. For me, it’s the turn up, bit of bare ankle and then boot that really makes this look, the rest of it being so downright demure. Well, apart from the clutch, of course, which summons up crazy nights swirling in a starlit desert. And so, we can but dream. Fantastic quote from Iris Murdoch in The Week this week “We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality.”

Wearing Wallis jeans (c/o), Superdry sweater, French Connection blazer (can’t find this stocked anywhere), Hudson Enke boots, Leotie Lovely clutch and rings by Annina Vogel, Portuguese Heart (c/o) and Joanna Cave.
