We travelled up to Skye this weekend for a wedding (when did I become that person who sobs through ceremonies?! And yes, I wore the Free People dress!). This morning, between the downpours, I nipped down to the beach to do some photos with this gorgeous Weston scarf…
Sent to me last week, I’d chosen the most rainbow bright of patterns in the finest softest modal and silk blend. Weston scarves have quite a name for themselves already – sold in Liberty’s, Net-a-Porter and Harvey Nichol’s among others. They are the work of one Richard Weston, an architecture professor, who makes prints from highly magnified images of the insides of rocks and fossils. The selection I had a good nosey through in the press showroom were all stunning and it was almost impossible to make a choice. There were lots of styles in a shiny silk satin if that’s more your thing, but I prefer something that can be worn more day-to-day.
This particular style is the Strizzate Reno which uses a new technique for Weston – ‘strizzate’ means squeezing in Italian, and the digitally printed image is created by hand-squeezing paint onto different textures and depths and then magnifying the results for an eye-catching pattern. For me, a scarf is an outerwear year-round best buddy – I always have one tucked away in my bag. Rather than have loads, I tend to have one at time, never more than two on the go. I have to say with this one being so colourful, it’s a great alternative to my current soft grey one and is perfect for throwing on over block colours.
We’ve been lucky and the sun has come out today – and yesterday afternoon we even saw a rainbow. Sadly, I couldn’t snap it as my iPhone is currently out of action (I’m drying it out in hope it’ll come back to life after an inadvertent drop into a glass of water – any experience of this?) and we’re well out of the way of the terrible weather effecting the rest of the UK. Anyway, I hope you like the photos – a few more than usual, as I’m obsessed with this little pebble beach at the bottom of my in-laws’ garden. Do you like the scarf? Do you have a ‘best buddy’ type scarf that you always wear?
