Old School Italian

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Although last week was one of my busiest yet, there were some lovely moments in amongst the rush of press days, PR meetings and phonecalls and Thursday’s visit to the super old-school Italian Orso in Covent Garden was one of them…

Tagging along for Emma’s review, I sunk with delight into the chilled basement restaurant which regularly sees the likes of Placido Domingo and Julian Barnes dining there. The most attentive of maitre d’s, which, you know, really does make a difference; you feel genuinely welcomed and looked after. Emma and I nattered incessantly as we made our way through a delicious array of starters – seafood, mozzarella, tomatoes and a gorgonzola & walnut salad before a beautiful plate of oreccheitte pasta with tomato, spinach and parmesan – simple, but one of my all-time favourites. Before finishing off, of course, with chocolate flourless cake for dessert, we popped into the kitchen to take some photographs and though running late, two fresh mint teas later,  were extremely reluctant to leave.

I got a little soppy-eyed when Emma presented me with an early Christmas present – the Chroma Stationery notebook pictured below. She had mine embossed with my blog name – the lovely peep at Chroma took a look at my blog and chose the colours they thought suited it best. The choice of grey and gold was just perfect!

ps. Thoughts on the internet’s ridiculing of looking down in photos? It’s even made it as far as Reddit! This is something my husband constantly makes fun of me for doing, but let’s face it, looking down in photos ensures a better result on the face front! And draws attention to the clothes, right?

pps. I call this yeti chic…
