Parka Life

Green parkas (and anything vaguely army/military influenced) seem to be having a moment this winter and for good reason, they cover you up and keep you warm with fluffy hood, all the while retaining that perfect mix of cool and comfort…

But not all parkas were created equal, as I recently discovered. My other parka is too bulky and fits too tight, constricting movement which I cannot stand. I like to be able to comfortably fit a big jumper under one too. Having seen the Hush one on the site and then in action on Lucy, I knew it was a much better design and since it arrived I’ve worn it nearly everyday. Without fail for nursery runs, so easy to throw over jumper and jeans and I took it as my only coat on my city break to Belfast which I arrived back from, exhausted but happy, Sunday night.

These photos we took on Sunday morning, feeling a little worse for wear, after a day and night of activities with the fab Discover Ireland team. The rain had cleared and it was beautifully sunny and crisp. Afterwards we headed to the Botanic Gardens – see my cheerful post swinging here – and checked out the completely fabulous Ulster Museum. But more on that soon…

So, in sum, if you’re looking for a parka to invest in this season, here it is – I can well imagine myself wearing this the next few years in and out until I’ve thoroughly worn it out! The soft inner lining you can zip out, as with the hood…

I am wearing Hush Homewear parka*, Reiss metallic knit*, Paige denim skinnies (on sale!), Boden Skye scarf, Boden biker boots and Rag & Bone bag

Big thanks to Fab Tips for helping with the photos, shot on my Olympus Pen E-P5

  1. Hi. You’re outfit is lovely. The parka looks fab. It’s just what I’ve been looking for. I’m only little at just under 5 ft 3. I’ve read on your previous posts that you’re petite. Most parka’s I try on swamp me. This looks like it doesn’t. How’s the fit?

    1. Pretty darn good, I’d say! I’m smaller than you – 5ft 2 and quite narrow on the shoulders and I don’t feel at all swamped but still has the shape and look I like! 🙂
