You begin to understand things, as you get older. That carefree date nights are something to cherish and make time for and that the best shoes are made by people who have a true understanding of constructing beautiful shoes that don’t hurt your feet…
So, second things first. As I’ve written before, one brand that does incredibly-made heels, is Chie Mihara. Bright, quirky, handcrafted, artisan designs. Like these beautiful hand-painted mid-heels, new for Spring/Summer. It turns out that the Brazilian-Japanese Chie Mihara once worked at an orthopedic shoe shop learning about foot anatomy and common foot problems which, when merged with her artistic eye, has resulted in shoes engineered into perfect little works of art. But ones you can wear, like out on date nights, which often start with a bus or tube journey and more often than not searching for a cab longer than you’d like at the end of it.
My understanding of clever people and comfy shoe construction is evolving further, since my meeting yesterday with the designer behind Air & Grace. As well as having worked at Aldo and Office, Claire Burrows also spent time at FitFlop before starting her own company. Remember me raving on about these incredibly comfortable but slick looking Coachella boots during fashion week, the sole so well constructed and cushioned you almost feel like you’re walking on a flat? Well, this lady has got the beautiful-but-not-compromising-comfort thing going on too. And I am beyond excited about the new stunning suede fringed boots she was road-testing – they went down a storm on my Instagram and all I can say is, they’ll be on pre-order soon!! The rest of the outfit is this brilliant pair of ASOS ripped girlfriends – sleeker, neater than a boyfriend – a slouchy tee I picked up from Urban Outfitters and a J Crew blazer I bought end of summer last year which never got much wear. Time to rectify that!
Anyway, back to the first. Datenight. Craving one. Aren’t you?
