In Cape

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEvening wear come the autumn can get a little tricky as you don’t necessarily want to be rocking the Michelin Man look as I was most guilty of doing in the somewhat-chillier-than-expected hills of Provence, cocooned for the best part in my shearling faux…

So how about a sort of cape jumper  (by Minkie) which can handle a slim-fit knit beneath? You don’t have to of course! As this top (love the quilted sleeves) isn’t necessarily meant to be worn like this, but I was thinking on my feet, y’know! This was our first night in Provence and the quite mind-blowing Hotel Crillon le Brave – hundreds of photos to edit but I’m hoping to get the post to you next week. It was a blissfully perfect few days of pure fun and relaxation with a wonderfully small group of bloggers. Three is the magic number I think! My return to a house of playdough (demonic invention, that stuff) trodden into the carpet and sofa, dysfunctional washing machine and the innate guilt of leaving your baby (“I’m a big boy now, mama!”) even for 72 hours was adequately sobering, let me reassure you.

Every day seems to be running away with me right now, and sometimes I feel a little like I’m fire-fighting my way through life. Or is that just life? Anyway, I then decided that I would make the new bedrooms curtains myself so went out and bought swathes, metres, yards of white fabric which is now sitting bundled up by the foot of my bed eyeing me unforgivingly as I try to get my head around how to do this. Not least where I’ll find the time and/or my sewing box with all those essential sewing machine things like bobbins, threads and pins. And my decent fabric shears. I can already see myself hacking away through it all with my blunt kitchen pair… Bleurgh. In the words of Liz Lemon.

So the light was going as we snapped these, post my very first wine tasting, pre one of many divine meals. Back home, I have reverted to my new diet of marmalade on toast for breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast for lunch and chocolate digestives for the rest of the daylight hours. Um, need to sort that out. I will. But maybe next week. So just this little look for now. Sunday Edit will be up, on, well Sunday and then a whopper of a travel post coming your way… Enjoy le weekend and apologies for looking absolutely knackered in these photos – it was a 4am start, killer!
