You may have seen a white striped skirt I’ve been wearing by an Italian brand called Anonyme – I raved about it on my Stories, mainly because the fit for me was so good…
In terms of length (ok it’s probably meant to be more of a midi) and on the waistband as well! Often a skirt meant to be at the waist will be more at the hips for me and that 90s belly-button baring look isn’t quite what I’m aiming for at the moment… 😉
And there’s something about well-fitting clothes that really makes a look sing! Something I’ve often struggled to achieve – as I know many of us do for different reasons. But I’ve never really been one of those people to religiously get pieces altered – the extent of adjusting clothes for me is shortening, usually which I can do at home.
Unfortunately on some pieces – dresses, anything tailored – it’s usually more than the length that really needs adjusting; sleeves, body, waist. But I’m just too slapdash, life’s-too-short kind of a person to commit to this.
Which I why I rejoice so thoroughly and hilariously see it as ‘a sign’ when something fits so well! The Anoymye skirt (now on sale!) and the dress I’m wearing in these pics fits brilliantly on the body for me – the dress particularly because the torso fit seems to have been more carefully thought out than normal; as I know a dress like this would normally just not look that good on me! Anonyme have a good selection of quite grown up styles with quite strong prints, so it’s about finding the pieces that will work for your wardrobe.
When it comes to dresses for petites, I would also take a look at US brand Petite Studio, this dress I did not expect to work on me, but it really did! Perfect for weddings, although I was poorly for the one I had planned to wear it too, damnit!
The other pieces I’m wearing are: fab new sunnies from French brand Jimmy Fairly who have just opened a shop on Regent Street – their frames always have a bit of a quirk and edge to them and after having decided that the popular mini frames of this summer just don’t feel that comfortable to wear, I’m back in my comfort zone with something oversized and tortoiseshell!
The Dragon bag is one you might have seen before. I actually bought this last summer from La Bazaristain but you can now find these styles on Matches.com – I’m lusting after this cute little bucket style too!
And then, the cowboy boots! I feel that this comeback has actually been a bit of a slowburn to date – yes, the Mango and Ganni pointy ones went down a storm on Instagram, but I don’t feel the vibe has massively broadened out. Yet. However, my feeling is that this autumn will see them featuring most prominently, so I’m prepping with just a cool pair of black low-ankled boots by Levis. Forever the perfect rock ‘n roll touch to any outfit!
Ps. Hope you like the macro snaps I’ve added in!
