Ah back to school vibes are strong this week! And there’s no better excuse, plus this overcast weather, to snuggle up in a fresh autumn jumper and new leather jacket…
My last leather jacket has been going for near on four years now – and I do love it! Nice and worn in, big enough for a jumper underneath, buuuut, I’ve always felt the shoulders were a little too big. It was a little too biker and big helmet for my liking! If that image makes sense to you…?
So I took a punt on a new one. A bit of an eek moment, as I hummed & haahed over the size. Generally I’ll size up in jackets to make sure I can fit a jumper underneath, but then what about those times when the actual design is oversized and you end up getting drowned. Exactly what happened here with this H&M pile jacket which I’ve just returned and re-ordered in my normal size. Properly oversized this one!
But then this discounted (*bought with gift card) Gestuz beauty in a size M (there’s one left btw!) arrived with me yesterday and my goodness, the softness of the leather – woweee! And then the fit! I mean it fits – which to us more petite is quite a big deal. No extra vertical inches to carry off extra material with grace and dignity available. When it’s too big, it’s just Too. Big. But the fit works and suddenly I have my new leather jacket – with cute faux collar, but this is detachable if not your thing!
Obviously I have no intention of saying goodbye to the old, I know I will still want to wear it – not a hoarder, just a sensible sentimentalist 😉
To wear with?
But what best to wear peeking out from said refreshed leather? Well, a zingy jumper for sure! One that’s going to hold its own. If not this brilliant new Love style from Hush, then most definitely this gorgeous cashmere leopard print from M&S or the cute cropped pink one from the Must-Haves edit. Or this other Hush colourblock one, which I also have, lol obsessed.
