There’s always room in my wardrobe for an iconic denim brand, and having tried my first pair of Lee jeans recently, I am impressed and ready to work them into my everyday…
A refined Mom jean incorporating design elements from the body shaping Body Optix range – (contouring and detailing in the right places creating a nice shape) this style feels fresh and great to wear! Btw I’ve tried the skinnies and can confirm they’re the most flattering skinnies I’ve tried on; giving a smarter, sleeker look than the easy-wear jeggings I’m wearing everyday right now – the Lee skinnies are for when you want to look sharp!
The Mom Jeans
But stretchy glove-like skinnies aside, this Mom jean style has a fantastic looking waist and looser, but still tapered leg. In these pics I’m wearing them rolled up, but I’ve since cut of a couple of inches as I prefer the raw hem look still! Long may that look last for us shorties…
The Grey Knit
Also stealing the show is the grey cable lambswool jumper by Genevieve Sweeney – I gasped in delight as I put it on! So beautifully made, it sits so perfectly and the quality of the knit and wool is just next level. This is a jumper I expect to be discovered in my wardrobe in a moth bag many decades down the line. Yes, such a piece is pricey, an investment, but one you can wear again and again. A proper key piece.
The boots have been having a little heyday all of their own over on Stories, as, similar to the sell-out Grensons, they are in fact half the price and have a little extra height on the sole – always something I look out for! Just to note, I changed the laces to these black & white ones as the pink ones they came with (& little gold plaque) wasn’t quite right for me! Thanks to En Brogue, I’ve got all sorts of laces combos planned after splurging at Victor de Banke on a variety of walking laces to mix up!
The Day Bag
Finding a slouch shoulder bag by far the most comfortable for a day out and about, it’s good to have a go-to always at hand. One that you know can fit everything, but will still look good! This is a really beautifully simple design from west London brand Amanda Wakeley, whose bags are just at my price point – I know, more bags to tempt me, eek! I’ve also been having quite a lot of fun with this little evening bag too… But with the black hobo, I can easily pop in camera, gloves, hat, keys, cards – these wintry days requiring a little extra back up!
The Boden Coat
And last of all, always guaranteed to fit well, a Boden coat – this is an easy wrap style, roomy enough for a chunky knit, although maybe not for the coldest of days, it’s the kind of coat I like to wear when I have a lot to do, as it’s so light! Often what I’ll wear when I’m out and about with Gus as I need completely freedom of movement for any eventualities – I think parents will get what I mean here! The less constriction the better for cuddles, cries, dinosaurs and distractions…
