Limited Edition Eco-Friendly Clutches by Leotie Lovely

Intrigued? So was I when these fabulously cool clutches from Leotie Lovely popped into my inbox this week…

And on delving deeper I wasn’t disappointed. From the story behind the name (a Canadian Sioux Aboriginal word, Leotie means ‘prairie flower’ and was chosen by founder Holly Rose as her little sister’s middle name) to the uh-mazing owl mask used in the styling (see the DIY tutorial here) and cool bohemian desert vibes, Leotie Lovely is the kind of brand you wished you’d set up yourself.

A Canadian former fashion journalist and PR consultant, Holly has been obsessed with thrift stores all her life and in 2011 launched Leotie Lovely selling vintage, reworked clothing and accessories. This summer sees the launch of Holly’s first collection Bohemian Desert, the eco-friendly clutches above. Handmade in the UK from fabrics sourced from trips to Winnipeg, Canada the clutches’ materials include hand-carved ox bone, hand-fringed leather and fairtrade beads.

On her site, Holly says: “The construction of these clutches is a story in itself – a journey of time and research to upcycle and repurpose, filling in what couldn’t be found with ethically produced products, while ensuring everyone and everything contributing to this collection’s creation was paid fairly and treated respectfully.”

The clutches are between £35-£65 (see more styles and buy here) and 10% of each sale will go to a kiva.org entrepreneur at the end of each season. Total coolness.
