First things first, can we raise a glass to the return of the Birkenstock? Of couse, if like me, you’re a devotee of fugly shoes regardless of what’s going on with trends, well, give yourself an extra clink and top-up…
But it is still heart-warming to see the fashion blogs (see here, here, here and here) moving in harmony to embrace this most divine (-ly comfortable) of footwear. I probably don’t need to tutor you on the comfort value of the Birkenstock, but perhaps on how to wear it. Well, wear it how you like I say, but if you want to build it in to a so-called stylish look, then the easy thing to do is pair the clunky shoe with something tight/fitting or just plain fashion in the form of print or silhouette. Here I’ve done all three – patterned monochrome prints (Aztec & geometric), super tight with over-sized silhouette. And I must say, it’s the perfect sloping around home outfit on days of climate unpredictablity.
I am wearing Birkenstocks (and here), New Look Petite dress c/o, By Malene Birger cardigan (out of stock) and anklet brought back from Ethiopia (thankyou Polly!).
Ps. If I’m looking a bit tawnier than usual, RadLab filters aside, it’s because I’m testing out a new fake tan moisturiser, chocolate scented!
