Ultimate Festival Outfit – ShopStyle Competition

UK fashion blog

You gotta be in it to win it, right? And when the prize is £1000 cash to spend on clothes, and all you have to do is style your ultimate festival outfit…

Well, let’s just say this ShopStyle competition has been on my to-do list for a while. So, thank goodness I got a reminder email today as it’s closing midnight this Friday (get your skates on, there’s still time!). The UK ambassador for the competition is Natasha from Girl in the Lens (see her cute sample post and how to enter here) and the challenge is to put together an outfit that comes in under £200. No sweat. Here’s mine…

1. Topshop fringed leather (look) biker  £65

There’s nothing more rock n’ roll than a leather jacket (or leather look, as this one is) and it’ll keep you warm as the night gets cool. What gives this extra festival points for me is the tassels, echoed in the bag, you see. Should the rain come, remember to keep an emergency poncho in your bag. Lifesaver.

2. mbyM Parma cocktail dress £60

I’m really feeling white right now, and it’s such a great party look (think all-white outfits for New Year’s Eve on Copacabana beach in Rio and for Ibiza weddings). And the loose fit of this dress is most festival friendly – you never know when you’ll be clambering back through a VIP trailer window for that bottle of champagne you left behind. Ahem.

3. Johnny Loves Rosie floral Alice band £26

It’s all about the headpieces this summer, don’t try to fight it. Floral crowns are just so perfect and I’m really loving the simplicity of block colours like this cream lace one with vintage vibe.

4. Zign cowboy/biker boots £34 (in sale!)

Ah, perfect. A cowboy biker hybrid in a gorgeous faded red. I was trying to get away from the wellies and I’ve seen this type of boot successfully worn in wet, muddy conditions. Also, and I know it’s tried and tested to death, but I always fall for the combination of girly dress with heavy boot. C’mon, it’s a festival, it’s all about sweet cheesy cliches.

5. Boohoo tassel bag £15

I chose this because of the tassels (to tie in with the biker jacket) and because I need a biggish bag at a festival. I always end up carrying the water, snacks, camera, emergency ponchos, tissues, extra layers… there’s no getting round it. The trick is to find a secret place to stow it away (ok, ok, the DJ booth or under is stage is where I mean – I won’t lie, it comes in handy being married to a DJ!) and dance to your heart’s content.

Just to be clear, this outfit comes in at exactly £200, because I’m not the type to ever have any cash left over…
