Malibu 1992 Earrings – Gogo Philip

malibu

So I mentioned the Gogo Philip east London store launch the other day and how we each received a fabulous little goodie bag…

Well, after lusting over the Malibu 1992 collection in store, I was thrilled to find a pair of Malibu palm tree earrings in my little bag. This line is a collaboration with Dorian, owner of Milan’s Plastic night club and evokes (for me, anyway) pina colada sunsets, hanging out on the beach, general coolness and all to the soundtrack of Miami Vice’s Crochett’s theme tune. Since jewellery always disappears in outfit posts, I thought I’d do some photos that (I’m hoping!) kind of capture that whole vibe.

You might not have heard of Gogo Philip but you definitely have seen the designs – in particular, the gold hoops Rhianna has been sporting lately and Jessie J, Rita Orr and Eliza Doolittle are all fans. Founder Georgi Philip Pecenikov – a former banker, his Esse-Pi family has manufactured gold-plated chains for Italian fashion houses like Gucci for the last forty years – launched the brand in 2008 after producing jewellery (the big gold chains you used to see on the counters) for American Apparel at his family’s Milan factory. The aim was to create vintage inspired, fun and affordable designs for the UK market. Sold in Topshop, Selfridges, on Asos.com and Yoox.com, the brand sells internationally and is regularly featured in Elle, Vogue, I-D and more.

I should also mention there were some lovely other pieces, including a very cool skull ring (currently sold out!) in a faded gold colour that will also be popping up in posts to come. In the meantime, if you fancy a bit of fun summer bling that won’t break the bank (£5-£30) then you can buy online here. The Malibu earrings are £8.

If you want to check out the store it’s at 68 Cheshire Street, London, E2 6EH. Open Tues-Sat 11am-7pm.
