Last night I took the whole family over to Shoreditch’s pop-up mall Boxpark to sample the party menu for Disappearing Dining Club’s Boxparty pop-up taking place later this month…
A wandering supper club which also has a permanent home at Back in 5 Minutes on Brick Lane (you have to go through a clothes shop to get in!), the Disappearing Dining Club Boxparty pop-up starts on Dec 16. Located in one of the Boxpark units (perfect for groups of 10-20), the idea is that you pay by the hour for a brilliant party experience – all you can eat of the delicious menu, cocktails, beer and wine plus a disco soundtrack, dress-up box, Christmas crackers and party poppers. Just what you need for a Christmas lunch or dinner with friends or the office!
On our arrival, Alex, the resident mixologist brewed up some amazing sharing cocktail jars and we tucked into the delicious starters – potted salt beef, smoked mackerel, wild mushroom and smoked salmon with sour dough bread. All delicious, and I couldn’t keep away from the smoked salmon! Next up, we were served the most incredible venison stew with two mouth-watering salads, squash, rock, pine nuts & poacher and quinoa, pomegranate and feta.
It was such a relaxed atmosphere we nattered away with the other guests while munching and getting slightly tipsy on red wine (I’m such a lightweight these days!) in between chasing around after Gus who tried his first pomegranate seed! Finally, to finish, were some gorgeous brownies with a potent cherry compote. So good! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos – I’m already thinking up party ideas where I can get Disappearing Dining Club in for the catering! And it seems anything goes – as well as doing their supper clubs in a range of unusual venues in London and beyond, you can also get the team over to your house.
