Some lovely Christmas editorial here from fashion blogger favourite THE WHITEPEPPER. Their fabulous check dresses and chunky heels are just perfect east London style – Scandi aesthetic, check; nod to the 90s, check…
Founded by two east London girls (they like to keep things mysterious, so I could tell you their names but you’d have to promise to self-destruct immediately!) the small brand has been making quite big waves. Now stocked on ASOS, as well as selling from their online store, these are pieces you are going to want, hard. The team (who are holding a sample sale tomorrow) kindly answered a few questions, revealing their favourite east London hang-outs and what wardrobe staple they can’t live without!
Can you tell us a little about The White Pepper and how you got started?
THE WHITEPEPPER is the brain child of two girls living in East London who met and shared the same love for street-style photography and styling. A tumblr blog quickly lead to an ASOS marketplace boutique, and then a website to celebrate our one year birthday! We’re now two years old and the rest as they say, is history.
What is the aesthetic you aim for with your designs? And what inspires you?
We’re very inspired by street-style, and by East London itself, and we always aim to follow the same street-style inspired aesthetic, of offbeat yet wearable pieces, for unique girls who stand out from the crowd.
What are your most popular pieces right now?
Our angel dress (pictured above) is always a staple fave, but also the response to our winter sheepskin biker jacket (Ed’s note: now sold out!) and velvet spangle collar dress from our recent Winter collection has been overwhelming!
And you print your own magazine?
Yep! We publish our in-house magazine all by ourselves, and create all the content, writing and features, with a little help from a lovely print house who do the actual printing! Issue 3 is coming soon with our Spring collection!
What AW13 pieces can’t you live without at the moment?
None of us can live without a chunky heel! Whether on a sandal, boot or brogue, it’s our team staple!
Favourite places to hang out in east London?
We’re HUGE fans of Namo, which is an AMAZING Vietnamese restaurant / hidden gem en route to Victoria Park. Plus for weekends we love Broadway and Brick Lane markets!
Anything else you’d like to mention?
We’re having a sample sale tomorrow! Come along!
