It’s been a week of meetings and now I’m so glad the weekend is here. Lots of fun things coming up but as the blog gets busier, for fear of getting a little carried away, I’m going to make this one a bit of a quiet week…
I may have mentioned I’m working on a YA novel draft – re-writing it in first person is turning into an incredible editing process and some recent feedback has been really helpful but just added to the workload. I’m finding it really hard to balance the different demands of baby, blog and book and so this week I need to clear my head a little and give the book a little time and devotion. So there’ll be a couple of posts but overall a bit slower than normal…
In the meantime, you must check out newly launched Shop Formula – some really beautiful brands, all about investment buying of pieces that you’re going to wear again and again. Christina, the founder, has a superb eye and I’m really interested to see more from them. We’re planning a fun little collaboration so will keep you posted on that.
Btw, you know the Isabel Marant Holden slides which are basically this summer’s impossible-to-attain It shoe, well, there’s a pair of dupes by Dune that look pretty good – thankyou to The Frugality’s great piece on ugly shoe shopping for this. My finger is hovering over Add To Basket, but I’m torn between feeling annoyed at getting sucked into the hype and just plain wanting them. (But in truth it was seeing them on the lovely Lucy from Fashion Me Now that got me hooked…)
In the photos, you’ll see the new Dior Glow polish which I’ve been seeing on the beauty blogs. I did succumb and buy– not the cheapest nail gloss I’ve ever bought, ahem. I applied a thick layer to my toes and they have a really nice pinkish shine. The idea is that the whites of your nail are enhanced too to give a French Manicure look. I’ll be honest, I think my nails are a bit too short to get a really good idea of whether this actually works. I’ll try again soon. But, hey, pretty bottle, right?
Also, in my mad spring clean and house declutter, I bought two of these lovely baskets by Rice Danmark for easy toy tidying. Up until now, as Gus’s toy collection has grown it’s all been stored in an assortment of shoeboxes and little containers which was driving me mad and impossible to keep tidy. So now, one basket in the sitting room, one in the kitchen, end of day everything get’s tossed in. Much better.
I’m also loving the cute little silver midi rings I picked up at The Stylist’s Rail a couple of weeks ago. By ASOS Marketplace seller Emma B Jewels, they’re not available online yet, but will be soon. So delicate and only £8. I’ll let you know when they go up.
And finally, the bag, I bought as a Five Piece French Wardrobe investment basic having been drooling over the quality and design of Loeffler Randall bags and because my life was devoid of a really decent slim eveningt bag. Expensive, I know, but a keeper. This is the lock clutch in tan and white which I had an inkling would sell out quickly in these colours (it has, from what I can see) but they keep coming out in new colour combos. I loved it in the camel dot print on Sincerely Jules last summer – this photo basically clinched my decision to buy. Ah, the power of bloggers.
So, have a lovely weekend, think of me as I try and tackle some very difficult book edits and I’ll be back soon – I have some gorgeous photos taken with an old manual lens that I am dying to show you!
