I know, I know, shoot me now for bringing in a little bit of a Christmas this Sunday Edit. But hey, I’m excited. It’s the first time we’ve ever hosted Christmas at our house this year and I want to do it proper! We’re going to have a tree and everything…
Being half Italian, panettone has been part of every Christmas I can remember. It’s my Dad’s absolute favourite and goes down a treat with a glass of something fizzy. I love how Selfridges have put together this little hat box of treats. Brilliant present for anyone you need to give in the run up to. And cards! Last year, I did proper cards for the first time in forever, getting one of my photos printed off. It felt pretty good too, so I’ll definitely be repeating. Miss Magpie of the gorgeous fashion illustrations has a selection of gorgeous Christmas cards just out and these are the perfect solution bar printing up your own! I love the Star of Wonder one.
The jumper is like wrapping yourself up in snow. One of the current season MiH pieces which I couldn’t resist – I sized up to M so I can wear it oversized with skinnies; this is how I buy jumpers now, small and neat to wear with big silhouette trousers like flares or big and chunky to wear over skinnies! Also keep an eye out for the cropped kick flare Lou which will be dropping in a week or two; this is the shape all the New York fashionistas are wearing right now and set to be the next big denim trend now that the street stylers have successfully owned it (see this shape here third row down, far right). Easy DIY is to hack off a pair of flares you already own or there are some good ones at Topshop here, here and here.
While the highstreet is showcasing all dark denim (Zara at least), I’m thinking light, summery blue is a nice contrast to heavy winter coats, so snapped up these American Eagle jeggings , which are down to £26 and do all need you from a pair of skinnies. (Although worth noting, skinnies & jeggings are officially over in the fashion world!)
Check the book! So cool, Hannah Brogue (blogger En Brogue and fashion features ed at In Style) has published her second book, The Trainers Guide – love! And she does the amazing illustrations too, super impressive! You’re immediately drawn in as she takes you through all her favourite sneakers and why. Love this and yes, would make an excellent Christmas prez.
The hat is in preparation for the dropping temp – the clocks went back today, gah – hand knitted from London-based Happy Knitwear. Lots of colourways to choose from, place your order and Louise will knit it up! She kindly knitted my ribbed stripes in white and grey, perfect! In case you’re wondering what the paper strips are for? I’m planning some DIY decorations Danish style, the julesternes (stars) that we used to make when little. Going to do a trial run – found some instructions here – and then do some with Gus. This is such a nostalgic childhood Christmas memory for me, that and lots of candles. Found the strips on Etsy from the US btw, they came superquick!
The jewels are two new favourites. A ring is from the gorgeous new Jessica de Lotz petites collection – I had my lucky number 7 stamped instead of an initial and am wearing it on my ring finger every day now as my new lucky charm. And the silver hoops are by Alba Bayona of AB Handmade (who I’ve feaured before) but from a new project Eiger Gallery which is a collection of collaborations with a range of designers from different fields; interiors, product, graphic and fashion. Check out the chequered pieces by fashion designer Holly Fulton and furniture designer Tomoko Azumi (who designs for Ercol).
Haircare! So more super natural Maria Nila which I’ve been using and loving. But on advice from my hairdresser I’m trying out a clearer shampoo which leaves my hair that bit lighter – this shampoo is from the Volume range . I also tried out the Hair Lotion to give my hair a bit of TLC. I just put a little, like a serum, in my hair while damp and it seems to have sucked it up plus helping my efforts at easy waves by drying my hair in a half top-knot. Seems to have worked! And last night before bed, I rubbed in a small amount of Argan Oil to combat my annoying outer tendrils of frizz. And my hair is looking better than usual, good enough to wear down which is a rarity, so pretty pleased! But these two treatments will be available to buy online in the UK here on the 2nd November.
And the Blanche bag is the latest in my growing APC collection. So cool, so classic, so 70s, so generally awesome. My bag brand of choice for this year.
