There’s nothing I love (or need!) more than barely-notice-it’s-there lingerie – I can’t stand underwiring or too-tight bras – so I’ve been testing out Wacoal’s new Beyond Naked collection which is quite unlike any other…
As you can see from the pictures the pieces are super soft, not a strap or underwire in sight, and really feel like a second skin. The chest area is home to two gently sculpted pads to give you a nice line but the rest of it just sits comfortably over you. I’ve worn shapewear before that is horribly tight, and this is not that. Nowhere near that. To be honest, it’s worked so well for me that’s it’s easily an everyday wear for me. This is how I got on wearing it last month…
Saturday – Day 1
Day 1, although actually it’s Day 2 of LFW today! I’m working on the Topshop editorial team and covering a mix of shows and presentations at the Old Spitalfields Topshop Showspace. I’ve gone for quite a fun but comfortable outfit. The temperature’s dropped so I have an excuse to wear a colourful knit and perfect for wearing under this is the Shaping Body. Seems crazy to wear a body on a busy day like this but actually I prefer the vest not riding up as I crouch, kneel and stretch to get my shots! The lightness of the fabric means that I really didn’t notice it all day, which was just what was needed!
Sunday – Day 2
Today was another Topshop day, this time the Unique show. As part of the team I need to be all in black, so another crew neck knit and Shaping Body combo, which worked so will yesterday. The straps of the body are quite wide so a crew or high neck works best with these I think. But again, really the perfect piece for dashing around in and not feeling bothered by any tightness – honestly like a second skin!
Monday – Day 3
I’m exhausted. I’ve only left the house on a few errands today – taking Gus to school and a bit of shopping. I’ve been mainly feeling tired out facing my screen trying to get some overdue photos edited and a blog post up. On a day like this, I like to wear some unrestrictive but as I’m popping out every now and then something looks presentable too, so the Shaping Camisole and comfy Control Briefs are ideal! My school-run go to is an easy jeans, jumper and plimsolls.
Tuesday – Day 4
Another day in front of my laptop today, but in the evening I nipped into town for drinks with a friend. I dressed things up a little this time with a pleated skirt and ruffle neck top – the longer Shaping Dress was perfect and extremely comfortable, not at all overly-tight around the hips and it helped with a smooth waist line!
Wednesday – Day 5
I actually popped the bodies which I wore for LFW in the wash as I knew they’d be perfect for this neat fitting look – kickflare jeans with a bit of stretch and a close-fit tee with velvet bomber on top. This look was perfect for nipping into town for a drink and checking out a shoot location for the following day.
Thursday Day 6
I’m shooting for a brand today, but first I’m met my good pal Emma for lunch and a summer’s worth of a catch up. This time the briefs are really working hard as I’m wearing a pair of black skinnies and not a VPL in sight, while the Shaping Camisole is as comfy and soft as ever!
Friday – Day 7
After dropping Gus of at school today I headed straight into town for a meeting in Covent Garden – I’m doing some workshops for the launch of a new camera next week so nailing down the finer details. Now we’re moving into autumn I reckon I’m going to be wearing the Shaping Camisoles for both warmth and comfort most days under my jumpers. Overall I found the collection extremely versatile and one that will feature regularly in my day-to-day wear as so easy to fit in with your regular wardrobe!
Ps. I’m a size 6-8 and I took a S which was just right across all the pieces.
