This month I’ve been looking after my skin with some fantastic new products and as a result finding my winter skin is managing this last cold stretch better than usual…

So let’s get started… !

Blue Light glasses

First though, I wanted to mention the specs, which you may think are just a photo prop but actually are blue light lenses from Quay Australia to wear in front of your screen (laptop or phone) – because did you know blue screen light apparently breaks down collagen? And exactly where you don’t need it, the fragile skin around you eyes.

Quay Australia do a range of blue light styles at a decent price; this pair is £45, and I just chose a frame style that most resembles my normal specs – the brown ones seem to have sold out but these tortoiseshell ones are the same frame. If you’re not a prescription wearer, then take a look at what sunglasses shape you wear the most and choose something similar. See further down for another way to protect the delicate skin around your eyes from the blue light…!

The Skin to Soul body & handwash and cream are by new brand Malako – holistic Thai medicine inspired natural skincare blends, made in the UK with the most wonderful scents. The ingredients are certified organic or fair trade, free from genetic modification and purchased from community projects or direct from producers in Thailand and the UK. You can find out more at Malako Skincare.

The soap you see is vegan, super gentle, handmade soap from UK based but Greek inspired Fysha – and I’m making a point of transitioning the household over to solid soaps at all sinks (and loving how pretty they look in soap dishes!). Not fully there yet, but slowly, slowly…

Skin rescuers

Dr Hauschka launched two new products this month and I am obsessed! They are both serious skin saviours, slicking on with nourishing intent. The Regenerating Oil Serum Intensive has a pleasing thickness to it, but it absorbs immediately and I follow it up with the Regenerating Day Cream Intensive, which again feels like it means business.

Beautifully hydrating barriers ready to rescue any dryness or lack of moisture that has accrued over the winter months! And if like me, you are in your 40s, this is definitely how I mean to go on! I then follow up (I use this every single day!) with the Dr Hauschka Day Cream Complexion which has a light tint and suffices as a gentle layer of foundation for me.

Eyecare heaven

I was delighted recently to be invited to experience a Line A facial by Susanne Kaufmann (at London’s cafe, spa & salon Linnaeum; see the facials currently available here) to celebrate the launch of two new eyecare products – the Line A Eye Cream and Eye Rescue Stick. The facial,(by one of Susanne Kaufmann head therapists Andrea; flown over from Hotel Post Bezau, the amazing Susanne Kaufmann hotel & spa in Austria) is wonderfully holistic and massage based.

And these are hardworking products that seem to get right into your skin and stay there. I’ve been applying the Line A Eye Cream in the morning onto bare skin and the Eye Rescue Stick I was advised to use during the day while at my screen – it helps re-energise the light (and collagen!) from the blue light. So when I’m not wearing the Blue Light specs I just pop this on!

During the massage, Andrea also used for the shoulder massage the Incense Lotion (which is wonderfully soothing on tight muscles and has a delicious, brisk scent) and the super luxe obsidian face roller, love! Keep an eye out for the Susanne Kaufmann spa pop up at Liberty, next one is 8-14 March & appointments always book out (especially the ones where you can redeem the treatment cost against product! Get me in!). I also love using the Essential Oil Bath for the Senses.

Perfect basics vegan range

I’m alway on the lookout for good basics when it comes to skincare too. And the new Marks & Spencer vegan range really does tick all the boxes. Parabens & cruelty free skincare at a really good price with a strong emphasis on recyling packaging ( I love the notes printed on the boxes reminding you to recycle, and the recycling stamps on the bottles and pots are clearly marked – next step, I’d love to see the plastic separator top done away with but that applies to most beauty brands I know!).

I’ve been trying out the Cleansing Oil which works perfectly well and is nice and light to use, and the Super Hydate Serum which is brilliant for smoothing on when you feel like you need an extra layer. What I’ve found the most useful is the Day Cream SPF15 which is a good, thick white cream which I love putting on in the morning before leaving the house to feel really protected in the cold weather (especially when on my bike!). It applies and sinks in just like a regular day cream and has become a daily go-to for me. View the whole range here.
