A Bit of February…

Lost in peasoup, at least for today …

All the mist today after some beautiful sunshine reminding us of how little we’ve had these past few months. Being acutely aware of the season’s moods is part of everyday life now in a way it wasn’t before.

Here every morning I roll out of bed and into extra layers to do a hay run for the sheep and deliver the chickens their breakfast even when the weather is not that friendly.

The sheep in the front field (closest to the garden) and the chickens making a ruckus at the front door at our mutually agreed time of the sun making an appearance (as pictured below… still frosty these last few days as you can see).

So I have been spectacularly rubbish at keeping up a Substack routine (you’ll find this post in my Substack newsletter form too) but I have been busy I promise. Excuses, excuses but I find myself in a transitional state where I am moving into creating something altogether different…

This last month, shaking off winter as new shoots appear (February start the Celtic seasonal festival of Imbolc; I can actually see the sheep nibbling away on the beginnings of fresh growth – translation: not needing quite as much hay, what a relief!) I have been working on my loom and a new website to show you what I am up to with all my fleece and making.

We’ve also navigated frozen water pipes, a landslip further down the hill and the farm track to our place getting so rocky after all the rain, snow and freezing temperatures the lovely postie and his van can’t make it up to us at the moment without taking quite a lot of damage!

I’ve also upped my yoga game by joining a local class which is something I haven’t done for years. Even in London with studios just around the corner I got into a much-preferred home routine. However, I had forgotten the great energy from doing a group class and how much harder you push yourself. I’m doing once a week, aiming to build up to two… wish me luck!

In other news… night oils & more

I feel I can’t type a blog type post without including my current natural skincare faves. Always paring it back, I’m a big fan of justan oil post cleanse for the evening – Wilder Botanics and Kloris CBD have been my winter go tos. The Kloris moisturiser & eye cream I bought at the beginning of November are both still going.

To wind down and maintain the wellbeing I’m pleasurably eeking out the Wilder bathtime salts and a few bottles of flower essences in my cupboard – Inner Peace and Winter Love scoring high. I’m hooked.

Another update soon – (er) than last time I promise!
