I’m not great with the changeable but cold, blustery weather up on Skye. Yesterday, I made the mistake of not braving the elements and stayed in by the fire all day, only to end up feeling a bit flat and lethargic…
The trick is to grab those moments when the sun is shining, for, moments later, you may well be faced with a force eight gale and hail (this happened immediately after I took these photos!). One piece of clothing which has been a lifesaver and I’ve been wearing every day up here is this brilliant grandad cardigan from Karma. It’s an acrylic cotton mix and comes in at £14.99. I’m extremely pleased as I forked out nearly £100 for something similar two winters ago which has not stood the test of time and is just too misshapen and tired-looking to wear. I’m wearing this one pretty hard at the moment, throwing it on over my pyjamas first thing in the morning and over sweaters during the day.
I love the cream colour flecked with darker bits of wool and how it just cries out to be worn with a pair of green wellies (check) which are pretty much daily required attire up here. Not exactly a fashion look, but keeping it nice and real with blue skinnies and my gorgeously soft slouchy sweater by Eileen Fisher.
I thought a little bit of tree hugging was in order (silly back story: this was something my English teacher at school curiously encouraged, and me and my husband were both in his class – so being in the house where Myles grew up it seemed appropriate! And such great trees to hug, it gives you quite an amazing feeling) and the green moss is so soft and springy. Obviously as soon as I finished prancing around like a hippy, I rushed inside for a cup of tea and chocolate digestives, a packet of which I am burning through at an alarming rate.
Ps. The ring I’m wearing is from NOWSEEN.com, which is just about to launch online and for which I have a giveaway coming up…!

Lovely. And the scarf?
I meant to mention – it’s a lovely fine cashmere scarf I bought at Delhi airport a couple of years ago, but I don’t know the make I’m afraid.
really like this laid back and comfortable look!
