Today luxe homewear brand Hush launches its biggest collection yet and a couple of weeks ago, I was invited to a super exclusive lunch at designer Mandy Watkin’s gorgeous home to indulge in delicious organic food by Riverford and check out the new range…
I kind of went a bit crazy taking photos as it all looked so divine (basically perfectly bloggable, haha!). And I also got to meet fabulous bloggers Lucy Williams from Fashion Me Now, Amanda Start from The Online Stylist and Karine Candice from Bodie & Fou. We nattered, sipped champagne and ogled our lunch preparations while chatting with Mandy and checking out the collection. The food, as you can see, used mainly seasonal vegetables from the Riverford farms (did you know they’ve been delivering organic boxes since the 80s?) but with a bit of a spring twist. I cannot tell you how delicious the goat’s cheese tart was and the red peppers and broccoli salads are something I would love to recreate at home, ha! One day… Note that the placemats are vintage Elle Decor! Very nice touch. And the poppy seed covered cake had courgettes in it and was delicious. Totally going to get the recipe for you, as it’s meant to be very easy to make!
Post lunch, Mandy (in the new collection knitted crop jacket) couldn’t resist showing us an amazing surf video which got all of us oohing and ahhing – somehow conversation had got onto extreme sports! There were a surprising amount of skiers and boarders around the table… Conversation covered all sorts and it turned into a real bubbly-fuelled girly lunch!
Next up, Mandy introduced us to the collection (her favourite piece is this gorgeous open stitch eyelash jumper in pink and white which had everyone cooing – the cream/lime version is pictured below). The pieces are relaxed, light-hearted, easy-to-wear and with splashes of fun neon and bright pink and orange. Basically the kind of clothes I imagine someone like Sienna Miller lives in while on holiday. But really, these are clothes for feeling comfy but still chic, so right up my alley. Loving the new denim additions, including the cool cutoffs. And check out the dresses, for someone who’s not really a dress-wearer, I’m drawn to these for their flattering shape and ease. Love! And I’m definitely going to have to get some of the slim joggers into my wardrobe! The other piece that had everyone cooing was the this gorgeous scoop hemmed striped dress – see? I totally had my eye on this mohair colour-block jumper but it’s already sold out (now in stock, yay!). So, I’m thinking this chain stitch jumper instead…
The new print pyjamas are as cute and cosy as ever. Can you believe I have two pairs of Hush jammies, from over 10 years ago. Ahem…! They’ve just about done their last, so may well need to be replaced!
Professional photographer Emma Sekhon was also on hand snapping away, here are some of her gorgeous shots (way better than mine!). Check out her wedding blog portfolio here. In the first photo you can see the new boyfriend jeans which Mandy was also wearing… Comfortable, slouchy, ripped. Perfect.
A big thank you to Mandy and Hush for putting on such a fabulous day! What are you favourite pieces from the SS14 collection? Will you be snapping any up?
