Focusing on wardrobe investments pieces has led me to the pieces in this outfit – a super pair of skinnies (but high-waisted for when you want to wear slightly shorter tops) and an excellent pair of not-too-high but very elegant black ankle boots and a striped top… 

This is a very core style outfit and one I’d be happy wearing in a variety of situations. Throw in a black leather jacket (I’m wearing mine so much right now) and beautiful clutch  – am I the only person obsessed with Loeffler Randall bags right now? Have you seen the Rider? Very similar to the one Joan’s been rocking in Mad Men this season…

For a while I thought stripes were over after being such a mega-trend the last few years, but I now realise that actually they’re a wardrobe basic (which is why I included the top I’m wearing in my Five Piece French Wardrobe basics). There’s something about a leather jacket and stripy top that you just can’t go wrong with. Boyfriends or skinnies below, or hell, even a skirt with ankle boots or whatever ugly shoes you’re wearing at the moment – perfect!

A bit more on the jeans – they’re by Danish brand Won Hundred from my latest fave place to shop online, Shop Formula. There are so many gorgeous pieces on this site, of the considered adult-purchasing kind, so do have a browse – in love with this stripe dress and soft slouchy knit. They also do the most gorgeous Baileys soya candles, only £16, which is eye-opening cheap in the world of luxe candle these days (sorry, just had to embed one of my favourite ever candle-related tweets below!). I’ve got the Fig burning on my desk as I type.

The booties (new in for SS14) are from equally gorgeous site and Notting Hill store Penelope Chilvers – I am lusting over the Pillow Bag in the tan, but sadly only two left and already reserved. I think the espadrilles might be next on my list, a black pair suddenly seems very essential to my life right now!

As stated in my last post, things will be a little quieter on the blog this week, but lots of exciting things in the pipeline including a trip next week to Stuttgart – more details on that soon!
