As you probably know by now, I’ve been a big fan of organic skincare for quite a while now…
Out here in Portugal, my mum has taken things one step further and started making her own. My first day here, she gave me a gorgeous creamy body butter to use and yesterday she showed me how to make it. So simple, with just three ingredients and an essential oil of your choice. One of my favourites at the moment is eucalyptus – so fresh! – so that’s what we chose.
1 cup of organic Shea butter
1/2 cup organic coconut oil
1/3 cup organic almond oil or any other mild liquid oil like jojoba, avocado or olive oil)
Essential oil of your choice (we used eucalyptus)
Melt the Shea butter and coconut oil until completely liquid in a bain marie
Cool for 30 minutes
Stir in almond oil
Add 25 drops of essential oil
Allow to chill in the refrigerator until the oil mixture begins to firm, but is not completely solid
Using a electric mixer or hand mixer, whip the semi-solid mixture until white peaks form
Scoop into glass jars and store at room temp or in the fridge

What beautiful photos! I love a good DIY & made one similar to this before but added in cocoa butter too so it was a bit thicker & more like a mousse!
Ah, lovely! I must say this is quite thick, needs rubbing in as can be a bit oily for some, but once rubbed in is fine! 🙂
I need a similar thing for my hair. What would you recommend, something that is home made so i’m certain at what i actually put on my hair.
Cheers,
