Being backstage pre-shows at the Topshop Showspace venue was a mad mix of exciting, hectic and inspiring to say the least! Here are some gifs and a messy bun tutorial to give you a flavour!
Above is the super glittery eyes that the models wore for the Ashish show, along with disco hair and rhinestoned nails – all out for that one! Big hair and extensions for Marques Almeida below – which was by far my favourite show at the Topshop Showspace for its frayed denim, bold colours and floaty 90s dresses. Plus patches of buttermilk yellow in the hair of the models for Fashion East – I thought this was dye at first, but this is how it looked on the catwalk!
Of course, some shows backstage were more frantic than others – Ashish was practically impossible to move for the amount of make-up artists, hair stylists, film crew and photographers like me all desperate to get a great shot! I’m not really the pushiest of people so I don’t always get right in there, although being little can have its advantages, as I could nip into small spaces to grab a shot! The models were very tolerant of all the tugging and pulling and photo-taking, although they seemed on the whole to tune out to quite a lot of it, which is probably the best way to deal with it all!
HOW TO: MESSY BUN
I also wanted to show you this little hair tutorial that I put together for the Topshop Facebook on the messy bun styled by Luke Hersheson for the Michael Van Der Ham show…

Love this hair tutorial, I like having my hair in a messy bun now that it’s a bit longer and I have very fine hair but lots of it like this model too! Beautiful photos as always, you’re so so lucky you got to experience all of the backstage chaos at the Topshop Showspace!xx
Thanks lovely! Yes, was really good fun 🙂 xx
