I’m a bit of a natural beauty junkie these days and I love replenishing my beauty shelf with new goodies. I’ve even developed a new scattershot skincare routine I call ‘layering’…
It came from when I tested out Perricone MD, with its emphasis on including a treatment product between cleansing and moisturising – the quite frankly life-changing Hyalo Plasma cream – a wibbly-wobbly jelly-like Hyaloronic Acid-including (this stuff is what keeps you looking young and plump) substance. Having run out of my sample pot, I bit the bullet and restocked for 2015. I figure you can’t go wrong layering up that on some excellent eye-cream and light face oil. I love eco-luxe New York brand Indie Lee and her carefully crafted products and this Lavender Camomile Moisturising Oil is what I slather on pre a little face massage.
LET’S LAYER
Now, confession time. I’ve never used Aesop before, but recently my Instagram feed has been gloriously full of its eye-wateringly perfect packaging and styling and finding myself walking past its Redchurch Street store yesterday, I succumbed to the Primrose moisturiser and handwash; I was gently informed by the store assistant when asking for a night cream that Aesop doesn’t distinguish between night and day creams as it’s a bit of a marketing gimmick; cream at night can be supplemented with a few drops of rosehip oil I was advised. Anyway, the cream is perfectly, subtley fragranced and what I am applying as my final layer before bed.
Not being much of make-up fan, I tend to indulge my beauty addiction further with hand and body washes. This fantasticly fresh-looking Wake Up rosemary & lemongrass wash is by US brand Brooklyn Plant and now available on my fave A Beautiful World. It’s like a thicker Dr Bronner and slides on nicely. The rest of the range is equally covetable…
PRETTY PRETTY HANDWASH
Gorgeous looking bottles of handwash are quite the thing in interior styling at the moment and can really lift a bathroom or kitchen sink. So I splashed out on the Aesop Reverence Aromatique to proudly display in the bathroom. The bottle is satisfyingly large so should last yonks… This one contains exfoliating finely milled pumice, so will leave your hands feeling smoothly polished.
Anyway, as usual, I got a little carried away photographing all the prettiness. And for the really close-up bokeh shots, I used the clever little macro converter which fits onto the end of my Olympus 45mm, immediately taking you in the realm of super-arty looking images, which I adore!

Pps. Behind the scenes…! I bought some wood samples from B&Q to use as background props to see if they would work with these type of shots – quite like the colour, think I’ll get some more!
