LFW Day 5

Day 5 I decided to jazz things up a little with a bit of double fringing in the form of this awesome Beyond Retro waistcoat and fringed shirt by Gant

Somehow it jelled and didn’t look too much (I hope!) and I think that’s because I really toned things down with wide-legged low-slung cords in blue and blue Stan Smiths on the bottom half. Love the silhouette of the trousers, this really is harking back to the types of trousers I used to wear (velvet) in the 90s, handmade from a little shop on Victoria Street in Edinburgh. This pair is probably a size too big for me really, but I think they’ll come into their own in the spring with sandals and a little top.

The last day of LFW was quite an intense one for me. With 4 shows to cover at the Topshop Showspace (Michael Van Der Ham, Marques’Almeida, Ashish and Ryan Lo) my routine suddenly felt quite relentless – shoot backstage beauty, spot any stories and get quotes, shoot the model line-up before they go out – a real photographer scrum – then head front of house to shoot front row, see who’s there, before trying to tuck away unobtrusively but still get some decent shots of the catwalk, just in case they’re needed before the official photogs’ work comes in. Then quotes to collect before heading backstage to load up pics. On repeat, you eventually hit a wall! We did have a quiet moment between shows around lunch time when the lovely Holly from Topshop editorial took these pics for me in the empty space…

A big thank you to Beyond Retro and Gant for kitting me out in such tremendous fringe! And stay tuned, as I have some LFW posts in the works to give you a taste of who I’ve seen and where I’ve been!
