Despite the white shirt being such a classic, I’ve never had one that’s really worked for me. The fall-back staple that every fashion editor sings the praises of, looking devastatingly chic in black and white profile pictures in glossy mags…
I have tried, albeit not very hard, haunted by the memory of an oversized white man’s shirt I was given to wear staying over at a school friend’s house for the first time. I put it on and felt like a total geek as opposed to a sexy sophisticate. Which isn’t far off how I feel in these pictures, I’ll be honest with you. But maybe I just need to accept how I look in a white shirt.
Nonetheless, this white shirt extravaganza with tail by US brand Eileen Fisher (high quality incredible basics and layering pieces in case you’re wondering) was such a hit with the girls from the Push PR team I thought I’d give it a go. At first I thought skinnies, then decided girlfriends would give a forgiving silhouette. And the obvious add-on was a brilliant v-neck jumper by Blue Marmalade, luxe basics, I know I keep mentioning them, a proper post is coming soon I promise.
Palette wise, I loved the idea of black, white and navy and polished concrete floors and whitewashed walls proved the perfect backdrop. I took these photos on the top floor of the incredible Arts Building (again, thankyou Push PR!) and could have stayed forever in such an amazing space with light pouring in the huge windows. Now I want polished concrete everywhere! And I took about a gazillion photos as you can see!
I’ve a busy day ahead. A jewellery brand breakfast, Topshop x Olympus photography workshops (come say hi if you’re near the Oxford Street Topshop, we’re set up on the main lower ground floor – you can get your photo snapped!) and a lunch meeting. See you on the other side!

Yes shirts are a brilliant solution for breastfeeding – I had one ‘proper’ breastfeeding top that was such a faff I just went with my regular clothes! Yes, this is WordPress, but check out Blog Milk they do gorgeous themes for Blogger too. My old theme was from Blog Milk but I had this one made bespoke! Xx
Absolutely adore that first image of you! Beautiful.
Thanks Maja :)) xx
You’re crazy. The shirt looks fantastic. Geek chic and all. Mine is from Cos too. Was going to wear it with khahi trousers and stan smiths today (pinched that look from Pinterest) and now it’s bucketing down…boo….
