Eating, getting some sun, boat tripping, having a natter and a laugh with the brilliant group (@lovefoolforever @annelibush @instyleuk @phillipapark @grifcopr) and taking an insane amount of photos on my trusty Olympus Pen E-PL7. To say it was heaven would be an understatement. More of a special Greek god version of heaven – Crete is the birthplace of Zeus after all.
While there is a big travel piece detailing all to come, I thought in the meantime I’d pop up what I wore on the last night. We had the most exquisite meal – with lots of fresh salad, sea bass and greens – at one of the hotel’s al fresco restaurants before hitting a local beach bar. Ok, full disclosure, I was so wonderfully zonked from all the fresh air and a spa massage and general hilarity throughout the day, I slunk off to my room after dinner and in a blissful well-fed haze fell asleep watching 50 Shades of Grey (seems we all watched this one, haha!) in the absolutely ma-hoosive bed. It. Was. Bliss.
Apart from the fact this dress is probably a little bit big on me, I love it; the handsewn embroidery with the little metal detailing giving it real artisanal authenticity. It’s all about the frock front, the bell sleeves and its relaxed shape conspiring perfectly to make me feel like I hadn’t made an effort. There’s a jacket version too, which I seriously need in my life. I bought direct from the French Nina Kaufmann site and the delivery time was only 2-3 days.
With all the metalwork, it felt right to add in my own too. So my usual suspects on the ring front – Stroem Design, Renne Jewellery – and the new Lucy Williams x Missoma collab pieces, plus the little horn necklace (now back in stock) which really has been so perfect this holiday. I love the extra detailing on the back of the chain so even when the necklace is back to front it looks super pretty. And for the shoes, the ever-so-sweet Palmaira Sandals have been just perfect for easy-going eveningwear. I want them in both black and leopard next!
So while I plunge into photo editing today, check out the @daios_cove insta and #postcardfromtopshop and #olympuspengeneration hashtags and, of course, my Instagram for all the action. Including my first bikini shot of the year, eek!
