British Handmade

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADid autumn come early? I had a wonderfully distracting Instagram discussion with various people bemoaning that summer hasn’t even hit in the likes of Scotland, Ireland and Finland…

The weather is confusing at best here in London – full on summery days one moment, sleeting rain and dank overcast clouds the next. Which throws your getting dressed head into a tizz at the very least…

I’ve been making such rookie errors – eg. not taking a jacket or sturdier shoes with me to grassy, windy Somerset last week – that I’ve taken things in hand. The answer is a leather jacket and trainers to add in to a simple denim and white tee look for all those times you need to do the nursery run, nip to the shops, pop into town. Nothing complicated like an extra layer or a scarf, just a mid-weight jacket and shoes that will protect against the rain.

And then you can play with a little shoulder bag. Loving this handmade in Cheltenham cross body by London College of Fashion graduate Harriet Sanders (Grazia named her the next Patrick Cox and she recently collaborated with British designer Jasper Garvida). The feel and the colour of the envelope clutch’s leather is wonderfully countryside and British, but sharpened up with angular hardware. I went for my favourite tan, but you can choose any which way colour way you like. Plus there are some really cute accessories too – wishing for this gorgeous little pocket purse to match!

In case anything takes your fancy I have a 25% discount code – stylonylon15 (all lower case) – to use on the site valid until midnight Friday 22nd August. You’re welcome and happy weekend!

  1. Thankfully the weather has cleared up slightly today, though it’s not really summer weather. Cute little bag, useful for all those essentials & love the colour. Have a good weekend!
