My Little Eye By Jay McLaughlin

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Yesterday Jay McLaughin (fashion photographer & Olympus ambassador) and I popped into east London’s Blixen. Opened earlier this year in February, it’s a gorgeously indulgent restaurant/cafe with some excellent furnishings and great use of greenery just by Spitalfields Market…

We sat in the covered cafe garden and got straight onto the cake and tea menus. My passion fruit tart was beyond and “epic puddingness” was how Jay described his banana pudding with caramel sauce. His My Little Eye shot perfectly sums up the vibe and décor – burnished leather, posh conservatory-style fabric lampshades, and galvanised steel tables mirrored (haha, sorry) by a circular mirror…

Photography Tip

Shooting mirrors is always a challenge. Hopefully you’ll find that angle where you’re not in it, like Jay did above. But if it’s not possible, then why not make the fact you’re reflected in the glass a feature of the picture, excellent Instagram fodder!
