With September upon us and summer no longer playing nice, life is feeling a bit in between. Not cold enough yet for cool camel coats and bad boy biker boots, but nippy enough that a little cashmere is feeling quite welcome…
One thing I never do enough of with my outfits is work the contrasts. Obviously this can be taken to silly extremes – you feeling bikini in fur coat on a ski slope much? – but I think there are ways and there are ways and mine is often way too naive. I love this outfit because of its woollen neutrals seamlessly feeding into nude leather straps as if they were meant to be. And it does work, because it’s still warm enough for bare feet, but fresh enough for cashmere on bare skin and loose wool-silk blend culottes to feel most welcome. A lazy day outfit masquarading as something much more chic!
The sandals are quite something! I’ve long been a fan of K Jacques from afar, ever since seeing them on a summertime La Moss (I imagine!) sashaying onto a yacht. Elegant, well made and available in my beloved natural leathers. This pair in theory are completely unique! As K Jacques offer a customisation service where you choose your style and then select the leathers and colours for the straps.
So I could have gone cra-cra and had a different colour and material for each strap, and I did try out a few combinations, but in my heart I knew what I wanted was the most simple of all: the nude natural leather all over. And then they become a pair you keep forever and wear right up to the edges of summer and in those in between times… Fyi, the make-up time was pretty quick and my sandals were with me in a week or so. However, if you like yours pre-made and delivered tomorrow then here is the style I’m wearing in a slightly darker tan. Oh yes, and culottes just in from & Other Stories…
