Wow, what a crazy past few days. Deeply gutted about the EU referendum result and spent the last three days with my head in a spin. However, the fact is we don’t quite yet know how this is all going to play out…
So I’ve promised myself to stop endlessly consuming column inches and Facebook shares and just focus on day to day life. I can’t tell you how much better I felt after digging up the flowerbeds in our garden, tackling the weeds in preparation for a garden overhaul. New trellis, building up the beds with reclaimed bricks, lots of lavender and some sweet pots – from COS and Notonthehighstreet.
Also good in my life – c’mon, it is the simple things in addition to love, family & health that we should focus on right now – and, if it’s what makes you happy, a wardrobe coming together better than ever is a good one. It really is down to the things that fit you, suit you and satisfy your needs all while pleasing your eye.
A well made tan tote for day-to-day and travel is a total win. And really loving the classic styles in vegetable tanned caramel with darker panelling details from Cru London. Created by two seasoned travellers – they clearly know how functional a bag must be too! – and made in Portugal, the Cru range has a strong identity and yet blends well into a wardrobe of denim and neutrals. I also have a 25% discount code to share with you for Cru – JULIA25SUMMER16 – so treat yourself!
Also brilliantly functional is the Hush slub top which I find myself reaching for every time I put on a pair of jeans, ie. every day… Getting the necklace layering right can be tricky sometimes – you need one slightly longer than the other and shapes that go well together. I’ve been wearing my new crescent moon from Swedish brand Blue Billie with another Lucy Williams x Missoma design, the dagger, which I’m loving and sit just right together. Also new from Missoma (who I went to visit last week) is their just launched Nexus collection where I love this double arrow necklace and new this week, a studs collection, from which you buy single studs as well as pairs. Just the thing for girls with a mismatched number of ear piercings!
Teamed with an excellent mac (just the thing for this hella weather) and my new favourite jeans from Topshop – how do they keep coming up with these sellouts; get these ones before they go – comfy highwaisted, wide leg, frayed and with a 30inch perfect for the petites, no, I did not have to cut these! Go now.
