London Beauty To Try | Face Place Facial at Rosewood London

Processed with VSCO with j1 presetOverall I have a pretty simple skincare routine, based around a nice mix of natural and organic products and not loading up my face too much with heavy make-up. Even so, living in a city like London, hopping on and off the tube you do feel the grime start to build up after a while. I was feeling just this when I went to try out the west Hollywood favourite Face Place facial at Holborn’s gorgeous Rosewood Hotel…

The Face Place facial really couldn’t come with better accolades; lauded by A-list celebrities, both male and female (Madonna, Johnny Depp, Sophia Coppola, Barbara Streisand to name a few) who regularly visit the Santa Monica Boulevard clinic where the treatment was launched in 1972. In the UK, the Rosewood Hotel is the only place you have have it done.

Unlike other facials I have tried, which, on the whole, tend to be full-on pampering sessions, the Face Place signature facial (it hasn’t changed since 1972) is more of a clinical clean up of your face: a concentrated but not-too-hot steam involving an interesting looking rubber dry heat mask that covers your whole face with a hole to breathe through, leading up to a thorough manual extraction. Extractions I’ve had before and this was the least uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. And I felt a deep sense of relief that my many deeply ingrained blackheads around my nose were finally being dealt with.

After the extraction, the therapists lays a cotton mask soaked in Vitamin C and zinc over your face and runs a galvanic current through it for skin firming, pore tightening, cell renewal and to prevent any inflammation. Because of the way the current reacts with the zinc you immediately get a very strong, strange taste in your mouth which I found completely fascinating! The current tingles ever so slightly but not in anyway unpleasant.

I have to admit, I was really impressed with how clean my face looked post-facial. A layer of small blackheads in key spots had been completely removed and it felt like a whole layer of grime had just been removed! A practical, results-achieving facial, I can see why people book in for regular appointments on this one!

The Face Place facial at Rosewood Hotel London is 70mins long, £140
