I’m not quite sure exactly when I started wearing jeans every day. I mean: Every. Day. I’m guessing sometime post-pregnancy when I could get back into normal clothes. And then normal clothes just became jeans. The right clothes for me…
The last couple of years have been wonderfully fulfilling on the denim front as skinnies have been put in their rightful place (handy wardrobe staple for down days) and made way for an altogether more grown-up kind of denim. Starting with boyfriends, which morphed into girlfriends and mom jeans, high-waisted and loose cut in a number of different flattering ways that looked so much better on the waist. And then the raw hems came in…
After which, I was in hook, line and sinker. Of course, I’d always torn jeans at the knees (since a teenager; how many times did the adults derisively address this perversion, and still do!) but had been reduced to rolling up or – god forbid the wasted time and energy! – cutting and hemming. Which always looked the worst of the worst. But suddenly it was ok to cut and fray. I could finally breathe easy.
So now that Spring has joined us, I’m getting extremely excited at pairing my favourite jeans (for the record, these are : Levi’s wedgie & 501 CT, Topshop straight, MiH flared Lou’s, Boden’s girlfriends and M&S cropped straight) with some pretty spring summer goods. I mean, you’ve got the jeans. Just add top and shoes and you’re done!

I can’t express quite how perfect American Vintage tees are. I’ve had two over the years, which somehow I’ve lost. Huh? I know. So this is new in. It’s incredibly soft, thin and flattering in that it looks like you’ve had it forever…
THE SHOE
The the granny glove in suede. I’ve had a couple of these styles, high street versions; but am now looking at better made, longer lasting and more comfortable styles like these handmade in Italy block heels by Portamento. I found them on Trouva.

Basically you’re going to be seeing a lot of French brands on my blog this summer. They just do summer SO WELL! This linen beautifully stitched top is by Soeur, who I keep buying straw bags from whenever I pop into Aime!

And these slip on peeptop flats remind me of a pair of shoes I had as a young teen in the eighties. Classic and cool, huh? 😉 Total throwback nostalgia; I can’t wait to slip these one.

Bit of a heads up, there’s going to be a lot 80s around this year. So yes, oversized boyfriend blazers, motif tees and animal print are going to be just thing for evenings out.
THE SHOE
Mules, mules, mules! I’m looking for a good time. (Bit of Sabrina ref riffing there for us 80s kids!). Yes so many about right now, from pointy toed kitten heels in zebra to wide strapped chunky heels. The great thing? They are the perfect denim accent.

Give me sunny, lazy days. Already planning summer holidays and light tops are just the ticket. This is part of the Filippa K Soft Sport collection. Perfect for yoga, technically a warm-up top, or y’know, for just hanging out.
THE SHOES
Oh how to resist a pair of palm print espadrille lace-ups. The demure, elegant version of Hawaiian shirts, surely? Love these cuties by Emu Australia. Kind of want them in the cream and navy too, haha!

Ok, I’m thinking, drinks as the sun goes down then on to dinner somewhere, cardigan or light leather jacket over shoulders. Love a bit of silky strappy lacey. Perfect. New hashtag? 😉 This is actually a chemise by Wacoal, but all for re-purposing as I’ve never worn a chemise before. Underwear as outerwear, pretty late to the game, I reckon!
THE SHOES
These are a real standout pair of chunky granny gloves from Next, they come in white too and are super flattering on the leg. I also wore them with the one pair of non-denim trousers that I like!

Another super pretty piece from Sezane, the embroidery anglaise so ingenue and charming for warm summer days. I love the straight across hem, given a boob tube look.
THE SHOES
Classics, such classics. The flat versions of tan cutout peeptoes being so easy to wear and just so carefree. Also by Sezane, who could basically do your whole summer wardrobe if I’m honest.

Floral and short sleeved. Relaxed and cool. That’s how I feel about this top and think it can work for day looks and night looks equally well. Of course, here I’ve paired with a fun pair of party shoes, eek!
THE SHOES
Surely every girl needs a pair of strappy gold heels in her closet?! These are disco-dance-the-night-away kind of shoes and I’m planning on making full use of them!
