July Beauty Round Up | Natural Skin & Hair Care

Stylonylon | Natural skin & hair care I’ve said before how spoilt for choice we are these days with more natural, free-from beauty brands and now moves are being made in the direction of plastic-free package too (it’s Plastic Free July btw!), of which I’ve included a few in this July beauty round-up…

I profiled aluminium-packaged We Are Paradoxx last month with an interview from the inspiring founder Yolanda Cooper, her aim is to take her packaging entirely plastic free, all that remains are the pump tops (which you can recycle if you take out the spring, use a nut cracker btw!). With new lighter colour in my hair, the Game Changer hair treatment is proving brilliant – you can use it any way you like, as a conditioner, a masque, leave on overnight. I’ve just been scooping up a dollop and running it though my fringe where the colour is most intense to give my hair a bit of a feed. I just leave it in to sock up!

Monta Monta (makers of small batches in a Hackney shipping container laboratory) is doing the clever thing of reusing waste product in order to create their own products – I absolutely adore the sage coffee body scrub which is made from spent expresso grounds which still contain skin-boosting anti-oxidants. The honey all purpose balm which I’m using religiously on my dry heels (the cracking is finally gone btw!) is smooth and not at all greasy. And I’ve just started using the midnight facial oil which has the most charming scent is a nice medium weight night oil.

Equally delicious smelling is the award-winning and fast absorbing Aurelia night oil (they also do a rather good natural deodorant that you rub on with fingers – I found this pretty effective but not as good as Schmidt’s which I’ve been using for quite a few years now!).

I’ve also been trying out clever build-your-own brand Emulsion – which has all the base products for you to choose from, body cream/oil/scub/eye cream etc, to which you can add blends and fragrances. I’ve been quite enjoying the Bright like a diamond blend on its own as a light face oil!

I was so excited to receive the new face SPF 30 from Pai – I’ve struggled to find good natural sun protection. But this is perfect – yes, a little bit whitish when you put on so you need to rub in, but the texture is so much better than others I’ve tried.

I’m also a fan of CBD oil, as you probably know, and this is a current empty, from Kloris, who I did a little interview with here, so have a read to find out all about CBD!

And finally, cotton buds and dental floss. I don’t use cotton buds that often but when I do I wanted something non-plastic – I found these made from bamboo ones on Amazon. I do floss every day though, and again I wanted something plastic free, so I found this biodegradable silk floss which works fine; not as strong as the plastics (I have very tight spaces between my teeth!) but works fine as long as you move it slowly. But I think I’m going to give this made from corn one a go as it’s waxed!
