Embracing The Early Spring Feels

As I write this, it’s a grey, gloomy wet day, but nonetheless signs of Spring have been slowly creeping in – blossoms and crocuses hallo! – and with it the mental shift that comes with longer days and slightly warmer temperatures…

I know I’m champing at the bit for some light-hearted Spring dressing and with florals and light fabrics hitting the new in sections, if you’re after a Spring piece or two (or want to bring out what you’ve got from last year – I’m already doing this!), read on…

i. Topshop dress | ii. H&M shirt | iii. Stine Goya hairclip | iv. Rixo bag |

v. Daisy earrings |vi. Ganni sandals

A quick peek into Topshop last week and the new florals for Spring immediately jumped out at me! The mixed print midi above and also this relaxed hanky hem, also floral, also midi (seeing a theme here?).  Nothing says carefree and summer lovin’ quite like a wispy flower-patterned dress…

As we are talking early Spring only (I’m thinking in about a month’s time temps will catch up!) another layer is required – and my replacement for the standard black leather jacket this year is a light-coloured overshirt, or ‘shacket’ as they say, but I can’t quite get with that contraction, lol! Last year I replaced with an oversized heavy cotton green shirt and it was perfect for over skinnies & vests and dresses. I have this one from & Other Stories, but this H&M one is just right too.

I always feel like having a lot more fun with Spring dressing – accessories like daisy hairclips, animal print bags and sweet huggie earrings seem like just thing. And then of course there are sandals and these are always a weakness for me; and the bigger & clumpier the better – hence the gargantuan Ganni pair you may have already seen me in!

i. H&M skirt ii. H&M jumper iii. Dodo Bar Or hat iv. Loewe basket bag v. Motley ring vi. Vans slips on

I’ve already been tussling with my fourth drawer where all my light fabric summer dresses & skirts live and pulled out a green Rouje one from a couple of summers ago – pretty identical in print to this H&M one, available online now. (Rouje also have some beautiful new Spring pieces in btw.) A light jumper – this one has a really pretty back – with a cheeky 70s print bucket feels like the right transitional vibe.

Also, from under the bed where my not-in-use shoes live, I pulled out my Vans slip ons, because nothing says warm sunny days quite like these for me! The advantage with these ones is that they have a platform sole so great for the shorter among us! Checkerboard (I have these too!) you can also find here…

I’ve really fallen in love with my Motley Power ring since received it last week and it’s the only ring I’m wearing at the moment (well until my new yin yang arrives next week, they are going to go perfectly together!) – Motley works with different jewellery designers, putting their designs into production and cutting out the middlemen making these beautiful pieces more accessible pricewise.

I haven’t got one, and don’t plan to (quite yet!) but every spring I find myself drooling a little over the Loewe basket bags and each new variation. Super cute sizing and leather work in white is making this quite the temptation… !

i. Baukjen dress (use STYLONYLON20SS for 20% off on Baukjen) ii. Arket blazer iii. Orelia necklace

iv. Mimi Berry bag v. Wilhemina Garcia ring vi. New Balance sneakers

A gingham check is also a wonderful Spring mood enhancer, and I’m dying to try on this one from Baukjen as a wrap style is a great way to mould a dress to your shape – lots of lovely Spring pieces over at Baukjen right now; you can use STYLONYLON20SS for 20% off btw!

And a camel blazer is one of those failsafe pieces, and I love the fabric and cut of the Arket one – would look just as good over white tee and jeans too. Paired with some strong jewellery pieces – I’ve been wearing this Orelia chain and am finding the length is just right, and the daisy ring by Wilhemina Garcia (I snapped up the yin yang one as mentioned above!) brings all the sunny feels.

You can’t go wrong with a Mimi Berry bag! When I moved to London, I constantly stalked the then Cheshire Street shop and eventually saved up to buy a gorgeous big caramel tote.  So beautifully made and always with an elegant style nod (eg. the wonderful 70s style turnlocks on some of the current styles!) – there are some gorgeous new designs just in for Spring, but beware they sell out fast to a very devoted fanbase! The Edith frame bag – which just went up yesterday – is already sold out, and I’m anxiously waiting for it to restock!
