I used to be a fan of the big chunky bracelet, more often than not in bright eye-catching colours…
But lately I’ve returned to my teenage self and re-embraced friendship and string bracelets. I think the key is to have some good base ones which you can build around with more pop-out details, be it colour, knotting or beads. (Some good foundation string bracelets here at Gift & Wrap).
I’ve been wearing these luxe skull bracelets from Suicide Blonde to death (sorry, dreadful pun) and thinking about getting back to making my own bracelets – queue a DIY post! They don’t all have to have skulls on them, but I also quite like these ones from Elkin.
What kind of bracelets are you wearing at the moment? Or are you thinking more about watches? Watches are suddenly becoming a bit of a big deal again. But I wonder if we can get back in the way of actually using them for time-telling. If we don’t rely on them for the time, since our mobiles have completely usurped them on that front, will we ever really wear them as anything more than a pretty accessory, which means they’ll never reclaim their position of something you can’t leave the house without.
I don’t know, I liked it when we used them properly, not just as arm candy, it felt more authentic somehow. But no doubt you’ll make me eat my words when I spring up on here with a watch on my wrist, singing its praises. Until that moment, I’m sticking to bracelets. Of the string variety.

I’d like to see string bracelets make a comeback! I also wore those in HS 🙂 They have such a free vagabond vibe…
Yes, totally vagabond! 🙂 Love that!
I love watches. I am actually really happy that they are coming back into style as an accessory, because I still use them for function. During school I would always wear a watch to know the time. It’s so much easier to glance at my wrist than pull out my phone look at it, and not even register the digital time displayed. I think when I start my new job I’ll be wearing one every day again. And with them back in style, I’m hoping I’ll be able to find a few that actually fit my tiny wrists.
That’s good to hear! I’m still not sure I can back into it, I know it’s easier to check a watch on your wrist of course, I’m just so in the habit of checking my phone/laptop etc! Ah, I wonder where’s good for tiny wrists…?
