Alison says: I would gift The Novel Cure by Ella Berthoud and Susan Susan Elderkin to a beau this Valentine’s Day. Apart from the fact that it looks beautiful (dove grey hard cover with cute patterned lining) inside it contains literary remedies for any ‘ailment’ you might care to think of. From baldness (maybe don’t flag this one up) to zestlessness, herein lies the cure. And so much more romantic than Google, no? @lovefoolforever

I say: This books is such a brilliant gift. One of those you can delve into and flick through for hours on end, chuckling away at the entries. Humour always infuses true love…
