Sail x Stylonylon x Olympus

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m super excited to finally tell you about a collaborative project I’ve been working on with Olympus and accessories designer Sail Handmade. We’ve created a limited edition set of simple skinny leather straps for the Olympus Pen E-PL7 which will be gifted with purchase at John Lewis, plus a free camera tutorial…

When Olympus asked me to design a camera strap I knew I wanted to stick to the beautifully minimal style of the Sail Handmade skinny strap I already had. Hand-crafted from vegetable tanned leather, the straps are free from harmful chemicals and over time will develop a beautiful patina that will wear beautifully and be a lifelong treasure.

I really love how the skinny strip of leather perfectly sets off the Pen’s retro good looks! As there are three colours of Pen (black, white and silver) I thought it’d be fun to produce three colours which could be mixed and matched – a natural, tan and black. I chose rose-gold coloured rivets & fittings for the beautifully pale natural strap, gold-coloured for the tan, and silver for the black. I love how they’ve turned out – what do you think?

So if you’re in the market for a new camera (read my review of the Pen E-PL7 here) and fancy one of these skinny straps to go with (plus a camera tutorial with fashion photographer Jay McLaughlin!) then get yourself down to John Lewis – the stores are Oxford, Cambridge, Cardiff, Cribbs, Edinburgh, Glasgow, High Wycombe, Ipswich, Liverpool, Kingston, Sheffield, Solihull, Swindon, Watford and Welwyn. All you need to do is tweet a picture of yourself with your new camera in the John Lewis store tagging @olympusuk and #olympuspenepl7.

Valid on any Olympus Pen E-PL7 purchases from the selected John Lewis stores between 18th April – 15th May.

Firstly! I came across your blog and just had to stop and read it! You have some great photography on here! And then luckily came across this post as I have been on the lookout for a good new compact camera! This one ticks all the boxes! I have some analogue Olympus cameras – the OM10 and the Trip and have always loved shooting with them! And hey a nice new strap would be great!

Hi Kasie – you can get an extremely similar one – the Skinny Strap on Sail Handmade, which inspired the design. Only difference is there’s stitching instead of the rivets. There will be another promotion soon – but I’m not sure when, sorry! Julia x

Hi there! I’m buying the Olympus Pen 7 at the moment and I’ve been searching for a strap I like for ages now and i’ve just seen your page – I’m in love with this strap! However, I can’t seem to find it anywhere? I’ve had a look on the Sail website and it just doesn’t match up to this. Do you know if there’s anywhere at all I can buy it?

    Huge thanks
    Jasmine
